The latest is the Google app for iPhones.Adding Google Lens visual search to the Google app makes plenty of sense — after all, it's the first place most people turn when they're looking for answers. Now, you can just tap a button, then point your camera at something to learn more about it.If you don't see the Google Lens button just yet, start by updating your Google app on the App Store. If you still don't see it after that, force-close the Google app, then reopen it. Once you see the button pictured below (next to the microphone icon in the search bar), go ahead and tap it, then read on to see how it all works. It's getting better all the time, but as it stands, it works better with certain types of objects than it does for others. Learning what works and what doesn't will help your overall experience with Lens.Where Lens really shines is its OCR (Optical Character Recognition), which has several great uses. It will translate text from another language, let you easily Google a word without typing it, or even offer to import business cards as a contact. Google Lens is also great at scanning barcodes and QR codes. Just line the barcode up on the screen, tap it, then you'll get information about the product. You can then tap the "Search" button to run this item through a traditional Google search, or you can hit the "Shop" button to search for the best price on the product through Google Shopping. Lens will also recognize logos, book covers, and other printed items with ease. It's not perfect with identifying plant and animal species, but it's pretty good overall. Another area where it excels is with famous landmarks and artworks, which should really come in handy on your next vacation.Nonetheless, you should still experiment with Google Lens on your own to get a feel for what it can and cannot do.

Step 4: Use Flash for Better ResultsIf you're trying to identify an item in the dark, you should be aware that Google Lens has flash built-in. Just tap the lightning bolt icon towards the top-left, then your iPhone's camera flash will come on and Google Lens will be able to see and identify much more.

Step 5: Give Feedback on ResultsFinally, you should know that Google Lens is always learning, and there's a way you can help speed things along. Whenever you use Lens, you'll see a banner at the bottom of the results page asking "Did you find these results useful?" If you tap the "Yes" or "No" option on this banner, you'll be asked if you'd like to send feedback. Next, scroll down to the very bottom of your build.prop file and press the enter button on your keyboard to add a new line. From here, type in the following line of code, making sure to copy it exactly:persist.camera.eis.enable=1

Step 2: Save Changes & RebootOnce you've added the new line, tap the three-dot menu button at the top of your screen and choose "Save" to wrap things up. From here, simply reboot your phone so that the changes you've made will take effect.

Step 3: Enable EIS in Camera SettingsOnce your phone finishes rebooting, go ahead and open the stock Camera app. From here, head to the main Settings menu, then choose "Resolution & quality." Finally, toggle the switch next to the "Enable video stabilization" option, and from now on, your phone will shoot with full EIS capabilities. Snapchat is one of the best ways for people to communicate with pictures, but it has a ton of other features baked into it. From the Memories feature to My Story, there are many ways to save save and share snaps among friends. Sometimes though, you want to add a little more pizzaz to your snaps. Luckily, Snapchat gives users a myriad of ways to interact with snaps before they're sent.One such way of editing snaps is by drawing on them. This isn't just for the artists, though. Even those who majored in drawing stick figures can easily integrate a few illustrations into their snaps to add a little oomph to them. Even if you fail, you'll still likely illicit some positive responses from you friends.

Step 1: Take a SnapYour first step (as always) is taking a snap. Open up the app, then tap the white circle in the center on the bottom when you're ready to take the shot.

Step 2: Draw on Your SnapTo draw on your snap, tap on the pencil icon that lives on the right side in the screen that appears after you take a snap. A color palette will appear on the right, indicating the color that'll show up when you draw. Tap and hold the ball on the palette, and it'll magnify. This is so you can clearly see what color you'll be using to draw. Drag it up and down to see all the colors that Snapchat has to offer, and lift your finger when you're satisfied with one. The selected color will have a white circle around it. Now, drag your finger along the snap to draw on it. To undo an action, tap the back arrow in the top-right corner next to the pencil icon. If you're satisfied with your artistic creation, tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner to finish drawing.

Step 3: Sprinkle Some Emojis on Your SnapsYou can even add some emojis from the drawing menu if you'd like. Go back to the draw screen (by tapping the pencil icon), and tap the blue heart emoji. Similar to the palette of colors that unfurled in Step 2, a bunch of emojis will pop up. You can either tap an emoji to select it, or slide your finger along the emojis like in Step 2 to preview them. The selected emoji will have a white circle around it. If you slide below the leaf emoji, a secret stash of emojis will pop up — they're the ones that you've used as stickers in the past. Tap on the screen to add the emoji to your snap. By using a pinching motion, you can resize it. If you drag your finger along the screen, it'll create a trail of emoji's, which is pretty neat. To go back to drawing, tap on the color wheel in the top-right corner. To undo, tap on the undo icon in the top-right corner. And to save everything, tap the pencil in the top- right.

Step 4: Add GIFs to Your SnapsNext, you might want to add even more flair to your Snap by tossing in a GIF or two. Now, Snapchat lets you add animated GIFs from Giphy directly to your snaps, and it works almost the same way as adding a sticker. Step 5: Send Your Snap OutOnce you're ready, send out your snap by tapping the send icon in the bottom-right corner. InstallationGetting Facebook Home up and running is easy enough. Simply install the three apps onto your GS3.• Facebook• Facebook Home• Facebook Messenger When you first open the Facebook Home app, select Home as your "Always" default launcher. Now, let's breakdown this new Facebook experience.

The GoodThere are definitely some cool aspects to FB Home, so let's take a look at some of them.Cover Feed Upon installation (and signing in), you start with FB Home's main screen. It's your news feed presented with scrolling pictures and statuses. On the bottom center, you see your profile picture bubble. This acts as a sort of lockscreen navigator; press and move to the right for the last used app, to the left for Messenger, and up for Apps (you can also tap the Home key for apps). You cycle through your News Feed by flicking left and right. Tap the screen once, and you'll notice your profile picture goes away, and you can "like" and comment right from the post. You can also press and hold down to see full photos.Unified Messaging and Chat Heads FB Home uses its Messenger app to direct not only FB messages, but also all SMS and MMS messages. When you receive a message, it will pop up in the middle of your screen. Tap the message to go to the reply screen. Once there, you'll notice your sender has now become a Chat Head. Chat Heads will accumulate as people message you and will stay persistent on your screen. You can move them around as you wish and flick them to the bottom to remove them.

The BadUnified Messaging and Chat Heads No, you didn't accidentally scroll back up to the "good" section. While many will like both these features, many will be bothered by them or slow to adapt. True unified messaging would be great, but this isn't that.FB messenger is great, but it isn't the only form of messaging most of us use. Along with SMS/MMS (which again, are incorporated), there are several other very popular messaging apps in play these days, like WhatsApp, Kik, Google Voice, and more.For me, unless they are all incorporated, I'd prefer to keep them separate. Plus, combining standard and FB messages in one makes it harder to distinguish what type of message is being sent. What if you meant to send a text, but instead sent a FB message to someone that maybe has never installed the Facebook app on their device. They never get your message, and you think that they're ignoring you.Awkkkkward!In a similar vein, Chat Heads may be cool to some, but to others are nothing more than a gimmick. Personally, I prefer a simple icon on my status bar to a small circle hanging out in the corner of my screen, persisting through whatever I'm doing.Security You will notice that after installing FB Home, pressing the Power or Home button takes you directly to the Cover Feed. This is great when you have your phone, but what if a friend or colleague picks it up to check the time and is now staring at your buddy's post about "getting wasted", accompanied with a picture of said buddy making inappropriate gestures with a Subway sandwich.Or worse, your device is stolen and now some stranger has access to not only your Facebook, but your messages, pictures, everything.Luckily, a quick trip to Settings will fix this; hit Menu and select "Home Settings".
